Playground Surfaces: Tiles and Wearmats

G-Flex™ Playground Tiles

The G-Flex™ tile system combines safety, simplicity, and cost effectiveness with ease of installation and maintenance. They are easier to install and repair than poured-in-place surfaces, and less expensive to maintain than wood fiber, sand, or other loose-fill alternatives.

  • Available in two types: SBR rubber (100% recycled) and EPDM-topped tiles (recycled base with virgin EPDM rubber top).
  • G-Flex™ Playground tiles provide reliable protection against injury, meeting all CPSC and ADA standards.
  • Manufactured under strict, factory-controlled conditions to ensure consistency.
  • May be laid over asphalt, concrete, or any stable, uniform surface.
  • Nearly indestructible, inseparable, and vandal-resistant when installed with our high-strength
    adhesive.
  • Simple to install; requires no specialized training or equipment.
  • Design allows for optimum drainage.
  • Can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • Will not delaminate.

Safety Considerations

Critical Fall Height from the equipment must be considered when choosing a tile thickness.  The following chart is a guideline for selecting G-Flex tiles.  All G-Flex tiles are tested according to the latest ASTM 1292 Standard and are subject to quality and monitoring by the United States Sports Surfacing Laboratory.

G-Flex™ SBR Playground Tiles

Available in three standard colors: Terra Cotta Red, Hunter Green, and Basic Black. Made from 100% recycled, shredded tires, each granule is mixed and coated with a pigmented binder during manufacturing.

G-Flex™ Designer Series EPDM-topped Tiles

G-Flex™ EPDM-topped tiles come in a wide variety of vibrant colors, or may be custom made to your specifications. The cushion layer is made from recycled rubber, and the top layer is made from virgin, EPDM rubber.  EPDM rubber is known for its exceptional color retention and UV stability. Color will not rub off onto clothing or abrade over time.

Always specify the right surfacing for the critical fall height of your play equipment. Standard tile dimensions: 20” x 20”.

Accessories

Accessories available include beveled edges, handicap ramps, and curbs to provide safe transition from tiles to surrounding areas. EPDM-topped tiles may be inlaid with  graphics of your choice (numbers, letters, stars, etc.) for hopscotch or other options to personalize your play area.

Wearmats

We offer two types of wearmats for use in high-traffic areas such as underneath swings and slides. Our 1” thick mat (40” square) is perfect for use on playgrounds surfaced with engineered wood chips or loose-fill materials. Our 1.5” thick mat (40” square) has a beveled edge around all four sides, and is ideal for single use.  Both types available in Basic Black only.
